Luncheon Speaker

Dr. Rohan Gunaratna
, Director, International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR), Singapore will speak at the seated luncheon on Wednesday, 12 November. A published author and expert on international terrorism, Dr. Gunaratna’s participation in this Symposium will truly offer conference attendees insight into the International viewpoint of terrorism.

For the first time, the US Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, International Partners, and State and Local Law Enforcement will gather together to wrestle with tough problems surrounding the challenges and our abilities as a world community to defeat and prevent IEDs. Be apart of the solutions to assist the government in defending our country and register today for this premier event!

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been used by terrorists in numerous attacks over the years and remain as a weapon of strategic influence and a formidable threat to world security. They are easy to make, difficult to defeat, and can cause large-scale death and destruction. This international symposium and exposition will provide a forum for representatives from around the world as well as U.S. federal, state, and local governments, working with the private sector – industry, academia, and laboratories – to address key issues and critical mission needs in support of IED defeat and prevention. This includes collaboration ranging from explosives at airports, radiological materials used for “dirty bombs,” protection of critical infrastructure, and advancing research and technology to prevent IEDs, to sharing information with international, coalition, federal, state, and local partners.

Working with partners in the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Defense and the US Intelligence Community, the Government Emerging Technology Alliance (GETA) is sponsoring this event. Speakers include members from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Department of Justice (DOJ), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) speaking on:

  • International C-IED Threat
  • Fostering a Culture of Preparedness with State/Local Law Enforcement
  • Transformation of Law Enforcement
  • Emerging Threats to the Homeland
  • US Intelligence Community Activities
  • IED Lessons Learned in Theaters of Conflict
  • IED Exhibition and Technology Demonstration
